Working primarily in gouache and watercolor, I draw inspiration from dreams and simple moments — fleeting shadows, movements, expressions and juxtaposition of patterns. I focus on themes of emergence and liminality and incorporate elements of surrealism and fantasy. My work includes portraits, landscapes and scenes from my imagination.

I often focus on animals as projections of the ego and id, depicting them in moments of imagined struggle, longing and transformation. Sometimes confronting the viewer with uncanny awareness or juxtaposed with unusual objects, the animals are meant to represent that which is present but not vocalized.

My portraits show people in repose or reflection. A pause from reality. I am interested in the embodiment of liminal space, and how rest and spiritual practice (among other things) can transform our experience of time and space.
